Andrew balding reports from the annual cherry picking festival, and the latest on the possible future of the London Olympics.
As part of our series of interviewees, we are speaking with Kate, one of the founding members of London’s most famous folk band and a singer of the popular band, The London Rockers. They are playing a gig tonight with the National Flag Band, the UK’s largest national rock and roll band. We ask the band if they would do the London Olympics and they say yes.
The London Olympic Committee is very sensitive to any interference, and therefore very tight-lipped about the plans but there are some clues. For the record, this is not their last gig.
It is very rare that the London Olympic committee takes in a band without its consent. Some bands have even asked the London Organising Committee to remove themselves from their gig, but not The London Rockers.
I’m not sure how they would behave, there’s a good chance we wouldn’t make it. They have played a lot of shows already, and I don’t think there’s much more they can do.
How do you pronounce the name The London Rockers?
Oh come on. It’s pretty difficult to pronounce, isn’t it? It’s just, like the band name, ‘The’.
